Spring 2018 Cellar Circle Silver and Gold Selections

Posted on: March 29th, 2018 | Posted in: News

Yes, the calendar declares it is spring, but we know it to be a variable season that has us shedding winter coats one day, only to find ourselves reaching for hats, gloves and fleece jackets the next.  While the bright, fresh flavors of season will be here soon, we are not quite ready to give ourselves over to the light, refreshing wines of summer. Instead we find ourselves craving rich, aromatics whites, fruity medium-bodied reds and the occasional big, bold Cab. This spring’s Cellar Circle wines were selected with the variability of the season in mind.

Classic members will enjoy the newly released 2017 Novelty Hill Stillwater Creek Vineyard Roussanne. This wonderfully aromatic wine grown at Novelty Hill’s estate vineyard on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills is a blend of 94% Roussanne and 6% Viognier.

Red Only members will appreciate the fresh, expressive character of the 2015 Novelty Hill Stillwater Creek Vineyard Grenache.  This grape continues to gain an enthusiastic following and is only held back in Washington by the limited number of vines planted.  Fortunately, Stillwater Creek has proven to be an ideal site for this delicious grape.

Both Classic and Red Only members will take home the 2015 Januik Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, a limited-release wine that debuted in 2011 and since then has earned 13 90+ ratings from national wine publications (2015 not yet rated).  A blend of top Red Mountain vineyards, enjoy it now or cellar with confidence. Winery Executive Chef Seth Fernald suggests pairing it with Gnocchi, Pancetta & Arrabbiata Sauce.  The Cab complements the richness of the pancetta and bright flavor of the first spring onions of the season. Enjoy the recipe.
