Andrew Januik & Zagat’s “30 Under 30”
What does Andrew Januik have in common with 29 other Seattle food, beverage and hospitality all-stars? “Innovation, drive (and he is ) younger than Michael Jackson’s Thriller,” according to Zagat. Oh, and all of them made Zagat’s “30 Under 30” list, announced today.
Here’s what Zagat’s Jackie Varriano had to say about Andrew, winemaker for Novelty Hill, Januik and of course his own label, Andrew Januik Wines.
“His first job was putting boxes together for his parents’ winery’s first release — the 1999 Januik Chardonnay. By 15 he had made his first rosé, and although he left the winery to attend UW (earning a degree in Spanish and Portuguese studies), he missed working in his lab in Woodinville. Now he’s back to blending and celebrating the release of the third vintage of his Red Mountain Stone Cairn Cabernet and the inaugural vintage of his Lady Hawk Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet. What’s next? Andrew is working on partnerships with wineries around the globe to create South American or South African Januik-branded wines.”
