2015 Andrew Januik Collection
In 2015, Andrew announced plans to craft his first GSM, and since harvest of that year, there’s been growing excitement for the wine. The reveal came at last this spring with the release of the extremely limited 2015 Andrew Januik Los Molinos, a blend of 75% Grenache, 16% Mourvèdre, 9% Syrah. This is a wine with intense aromatics and gorgeous concentrated purple fruit flavors that coat the palate creating a silky, textured mouthfeel. It has been a wine Andrew knew he wanted to make since enjoying the spicy, fruit-forward Grenache-based blends of France and Spain while living among the windmills (los molinos) of southern Spain. Stone Cairn was the first wine in Andrew’s portfolio and debuted in 2011. The 2015 Andrew Januik Stone Cairn is a beautiful violet-colored wine delivering complex aromas of candied cherries, currants, and chocolate. The front of the palate shows nice sweetness and fruit that transitions into a well-structured mid-palate displaying earthiness and subtle notes of new French oak. The finish is quite long and brimming with the bright acidity and dark fruit that is indicative of Red Mountain. A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec. 92 pts. In 2013, Andrew added Lady Hawk to his lineup to showcase the elegance and refinement of grapes grown in the Horse Heaven Hills. The 2015 Andrew Januik Lady Hawk is a deeply purple wine that combines a beautiful mix of black licorice, currants, mocha, and spice in the nose. In the mouth, a concentrated supple core of anise and black cherries leads into a textured and long-lasting finish which is framed by subtle tannins and bright acidity.
