The highly anticipated Seattle Met Top 100 Wines of 2017 is out now, and we are thrilled to announce Novelty Hill and Januik collectively have four wines on the list.  Seattle Met wine columnist Sean Sullivan assembles the annual Top 100, now in its eighth year.  “Back-to-back warm vintages deliver bold, ripe results — and a banner season for drinkers,” the magazine writes.  We agree.  Here are Sean’s tasting notes:

Outstanding White Wines  2015 Novelty Hill Sauvignon Blanc, Stillwater Creek Vineyard “Sauvignon Blanc can be a particularly challenge in our warm growing climate, but vibrant aromas of cut grass, lime, herb and tropical fruit — giving way to tart zippy flavors with a lightly creamy feel — show this grapes’s true capabilities here.”

Best Cabernet Sauvignons 2014 Januik Cabernet Sauvignon, Champoux Vineyard  “Champoux Vineyard is a Washington equivalent of a French grand cru site, and long-tenured winemaker Mike Januik shows his skilled hand with its fruit, producing a wine that shows finesse and balance and a memorable, velvety texture.”

Wines to Buy Right Now  2014 Januik Merlot, Columbia Valley “Few wineries in the state consistently provide as much quality and value; this wine shows aromas and flavors of plum, milk chocolate, and blue fruit.”  2014 Novelty Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley “A mouthful of cherry and chocolate flavors that persist to the finish; further proof of Mike Januik’s ability to consistently make a high quality cabernet at an affordable price.
